- Click All files and folders.
- In the All or part of the file name box type *.dot.
- Select Local Hard Drives from the Look in drop-down menu.
- Select hidden files and folders under the More Advanced options.
- Click Search.
Select all the listed normal.dot files in the search result and delete all of them.
Note: Windows Vista onward, open the My Computer window and type *.dot in the Search bar on the upper-right corner of the window.
